Alvaro Martin Vargas Sr.

“Queso” Alvaro Martin Vargas Sr., 59, entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 28, 2023, in Sarita, TX. He was born on May 4, 1964, to Guadalupe Vargas Gonzalez and Maria de Jesus Hernandez de Vargas. 

He is survived by his son Alvaro Martin Vargas Jr. and his daughters Alma D. Guerra and Nancy A. Vargas (Yulee), his brothers, Jose Guadalupe Vargas Hernandez, his sisters, Maria Dolores Vargas Hernandez and Martha Vargas, and 10 grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Guadalupe Vargas Gonzalez and Maria de Jesus Hernandez de Vargas, and by his sister, Maria Elena Vargas.

For the past 13 years, Alvaro was employed by the East family at San Pedro-Kenedy Ranch and La Mula Ranch. He was a loyal cowboy that dedicated and prided himself on the work he did. Alvaro was endlessly grateful for the job he had, for his bosses, and for his fellow ranch hands that turned into true friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2023, from 1 P.M. until 9 P.M. with a holy rosary at 7 P.M. at Good Shepherd Funeral Home and will continue on Friday, August 4, 2023, from 9 A.M. until 1:30 P.M. at Good Shepherd Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, August 4, 2023, at 2 P.M. All services will conclude at that time.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Alvaro M. Vargas Jr., Robin Garcia, Rale Vela, Juan Vela, Joe Mendietta, and Jesse Gonzalez. Honorary pallbearers are Manuel Mendietta, Hermenegildo Sanchez, Martin Cervantes, Cirildo Orta, Mike East, Raul Hernandez Sr., Jose Zavala, and Juan Lopez.
