Amalia C. Villarreal, 93, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, March 26, 2026, in Harlingen, Tx. She was born on April 6, 1932, in Corpus Christi, TX., to Lazaro Castillo and Gertrudes Silva Castillo.
Amalia had a deep love and found joy in the simple things – crocheting with care, sipping coffee throughout the day, German Shepherds and ending her evenings with her favorite peanut butter and jelly sandwich. She also enjoyed talking with all her cherished friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Maria E. Villarreal, her son, Humberto Villarreal, her brother, Rodolfo Cavazos, and her grandsons, Jeremy "Austin" and Joshua Villarreal, she also cherished and loved all her nieces and nephews, and friends.
She is preceded in death by loving husband, Efrain B. Villarreal, her parents, Lazaro and Gertrudes Castillo, and her siblings, Celia Castillo, Ramon Castillo, Lupe Tamez and Petra Rincones.
Viewing will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a Holy rosary at 7 p.m. at Good Shepherd Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Lyford. Interment will follow to her final place of rest next to her loving husband at the Lyford Evergreen Cemetery.
