Aurora De Luna, 66, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Solara Specialty Hospitals in Harlingen, Texas. She was born on May 17, 1954 in rural Willacy County to Pedro Contreras Sr. and Manuela Gomez Contreras.
Aurora was a highly active member of the Catholic Church and devoted to her Cursillista responsibilities. She dedicated six years of service to the City of San Perlita; two as Mayor and four as a Commissioner. She also loved to volunteer at the school functions for San Perlita ISD especially activities that supported Trojan Athletics. Most importantly in her life though, she loved her family beyond measure. For all those who knew Aurora, this is a tremendous loss. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and entire community.
She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Pedro de Luna, daughters, Deborah (Porfirio “JR”) Rodriguez, Candace (John) Munguia, Sophia de Luna (George Guadiana Jr.), and Kady de Luna (Eddie Damian), grandchildren, Brianna Bermea, Julyssa de Luna, Jasmine Rodriguez, Diego Alejo, Arabella Rodriguez, Israel Munguia Jr., and Jonah Munguia, great grandson, Lexton Layne Lopez, brother, Jaime Contreras, sisters, Irene (Raul) Olivarez, Yolanda (Joe+) Rodriguez, Mary Jane (Joseph) Diaz, Mary Ann Contreras, and Bobbie Contreras, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and God-children. She is preceded in death by her father, Pedro Contreras Sr. and great niece, Leilani Gonzales.
A graveside service by Father Richard MacDonald, SCJ, was held Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Raymondville Memorial Park Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the caring hands of Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 1157 W. Hidalgo Ave., Raymondville, TX 78580.
