Candido Maldonado Sr. Obituary

Candido Maldonado Sr, 72, from Lyford Texas, entered into his eternal rest on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, in Raymondville Texas.  He was born on October 10, 1953, to Isaias Rafael Maldonado and Narcisa Carrion Maldonado.  Many knew him as “Cande”, “Candy” or by “El Candy Man”.

He was a hardworking man who dedicated more than 50 years to commercial construction.  Taking immense pride in his craftsmanship, owning both the process and the finished product.  Often calling it “his work” and sharing the end result with those close to him.  He absolutely loved his work and poured his heart into it, never settling for less than excellence.  Candido worked tirelessly throughout his life to provide for his family and alongside some of his lifelong best friends.

He found his greatest joys in the simple moments playing music, singing, sharing jokes, home watching movies and especially dancing.  He also had a deep love for fishing that became his therapy over the years and introduced this love to all of his kids.  Like his late father, Candido was a jokester who loved a good laugh and smile.  He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

He is survived by his sons: Candido Maldonado Jr., Jesse Maldonado, Justin Maldonado (Bianca) and Michael Maldonado; his daughters: Michele Maldonado Abad (Joel) and Melissa Maldonado; his brothers: Rafael Maldonado (Olga), Hector Maldonado (Carmen) and Alex Maldonado; his sisters: Juana Reyes (Luis), Angie Benavidez (Amando), Linda Pena (Eliseo), Irene Maldonado and Victoria Coronado (Martin); 12 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, Isaias Rafael Maldonado and Narcisa Carrion Maldonado; his aunt, Margarita “Mage” Camacho; his uncle, Santos Camacho and his brother-in-law, Amando Benavidez.

Honored to serve as his pallbearers are Jesse Maldonado, Justin Maldonado, Zander Hernandez, Rafael Maldonado, Hector Maldonado and Joel Abad.
