Clemente Mendez Hernandez Sr., 93, has gone to rest with our Good Lord and joined his loving wife of 65 years, on April 6, 2025. He passed peacefully in his home, with family by his side. Clemente was born in Rayon, San Louis Potosi, Mexico, on November 23, 1931, to his parents Marciano Hernandez and Josefa Mendez.
He lived in Raymondville, TX, and migrated to Mesquite, NM, for 26 years. He devoted 30 years of his life to working at the RGV Sugar Mill, after his retirement he committed himself to helping his wife with all she wanted. He assisted as her errand boy for her amazing tacos sales, Easter egg sales, and childcare in their home. He was a loving and caring person, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, always thinking of others first.
Clemente leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Josefina (Alfredo) Garza III, and sons Clemente Hernandez Jr and Ruben (Lori Ann) Hernandez. His grandchildren, Ruben (Elizabeth) Garcia JR, Ruby (Chuck) Silva, Racheal (Noe) Acevedo, Roxie Garza, Robin (Gilbert) Galvan, Alfredo Garza IV (JR), Aaron Garza, Roel Hernandez, & Jeanette Candace, his great grandchildren, Dionne Lenee, Isaiah Ray, James Douglas, Paxton James, Jaelynn Renee, Ruben Agustin, Iesha Lee, Jeanelle Riley, Alaiza Rae, Hannah Nikole, Mason Anthony, Enik Jeremiah, Byrnadean Lynette, Eon Gavin, Melody Paris, Brantley Zayne, and Vivianna Grace, and great great grandchild, Ryland Jace Reyna.
Proceeded in death by his beloved wife, Petra Conde Hernandez, his parents, Marciano Hernandez and Josefa Mendez, his daughter, Gloria G. Hernandez, his brothers, Cecilio Hernandez, Casimiro Hernandez, Filiberto Hernandez, and Justo Hernandez, his sisters, Castula Hernandez, Bartola Hernandez, and Jovita Hernandez.
The family would like to extend special thanks to his hospice nurses, Alyssa Roxanne Salinas, Erica Marmolejo and Arturo Contreras from Amedysis Hospice. Last but not least, his niece Damaris Hernandez and nephew Eddie Chavarria, thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for all you have done for our Clemente.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Roel Hernandez, Isaiah Reyna, Paxton Root, Ruben Garcia III, Mason Barrera, and Enik Taylor
Viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., by Pastor Eddie Chavarria, at Good Shepherd Funeral Home and will resume on Thursday, April 10, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a holy rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow to his final place of rest at the Raymondville Memorial Park Cemetery.
