David Garza, 57, of Raymondville, Texas, passed away on April 26, 2026, in Raymondville, Tx. He was born on September 23, 1968, in Raymondville, TX, to Maria Gloria Chavarria.
He had a deep love for music, writing, and singing, and found his greatest joy playing the guitar. Music was not just his passion – it was a way he connected with those around him, often surrounding himself with family and filling their time together with songs played from the heart.
He proudly served as the lead singer and guitarist for Raul Cantu y sus Compadres, sharing his talent and spirit with many. Outside of music, he dedicated many years as a cook at Casa Blanca and Mi Pueblito, where his hard work and warmth touched the lives of those he served.
Above all he cherished being with his family, whether cooking, laughing, or playing music for them, those moments meant everything to him.
He is survived by wife, Erica Garcia, his sons, David Rene Garza Jr., Anthony Miguel Garza, his daughters, Selena Garza and Annalisa Garza, his brothers, Daniel Garza (Lorena) and Joe Ruiz (Jessica), his sisters, Maria Guadalupe Gonzales and Rosalinda Cruz, and his grandchildren, Adrian J. Cantu and Blake A. Cantu.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Maria Gloria Garza, his brothers, Aldolfo Garza, Rodolfo Garza, and his sister, Cindy Marie Gonzales.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Michael Ruelas, David Garza Jr., John Arron Garza, Joel Ruiz, Armando Garcia, Paul Eric Garza and Noah Ruiz. Honorary pallbearers are Blake Cantu, and Adrian Cantu.
Viewing will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2026, from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. with a holy rosary at 7 p.m. at Good Shepherd Funeral Home.
