Delia Martinez Fonseca Obituary

It is with profound sadness that the family of Delia Martinez announce her passing on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, at the age of 57 years old after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born on January 6, 1967, in Beeville, Texas to Candelario Solis Martinez and Ygnacia Perez Martinez.

She will forever be remembered by her sons, Joel (Arriel) Martinez and Isidro “Sid” Castillo, beautiful grandchildren, Julian Joel, Melody Rose, Ellie Delia, and Brycon Joel, brothers, Candelario Martinez Jr. and Antonio Martinez, sisters, Janie Martinez, Mary Ann Garray, Ygnacia Martinez, Patricia Martinez, Elvira Martinez, and Belinda Martinez, as well as numerous relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, Candelario Solis Martinez and Ygnacia Martinez, sister, Maria Elena Martinez, nieces, Jessica Therruman and Melissa Ann Gonzales, paternal grandparents, Isidro Martinez and Rosa Solis Martinez, and maternal grandparents, Maclovio Benitez Perez and San Juanita Nino Perez.

Delia was somewhat of a “jill of all trades”, except she mastered everything she loved doing! From cooking, baking, arts and crafts, and sewing, to carpentry, plumbing, and even building storages. Her fondest memories though were with her children, and especially her grandchildren. That is how she wants to be remembered, as the best mom she could possibly be, and an even better grandma. Being a grandma, in her eyes, was by far her most significant accomplishment in her entire life. We know if she could do life all over again, she would only spend more time and do more things with family and friends than what she did in this lifetime.

Delia was a true friend and a beacon of light that will be remembered for her warmth and kindness. She walked through life with great strength, touching the lives of everyone she encountered with an unforgettable grace. Through all the ups and downs, she loved all of her family and friends and never harbored any resentment towards anyone. Knowing she was leaving everyone behind so quickly and too soon was difficult for her to bear, but she is no longer suffering or in pain. She is now rejoicing in Heaven with all who went before her, and one day, we will all see her again. “Grief is the price we pay for love” - Queen Elizabeth II

A visitation was held from 2:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M., on Friday, December 27, 2024. A chapel service to honor her memory was officiated by Pastor Chris Martinez at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 28, 2024. Burial of her cremains will be held at a later date.

She has given the great honor of being pallbearers that will accompany and lay her at her final resting place at the Raymondville Memorial Park Cemetery to her nephews Raul Rodriguez Jr., Robert Ramos, Jason Ramos, and Fernando Perez.

We the family would like to extend tremendous gratitude to Hector “PeeWee” Fonseca for his love, dedication, and care over the past ten years. We would also like to thank her social worker, Jean, Chaplain Josie, her nurses: Aylissa, Arturo, Erica, Alina, and Danniella, and the entire staff at Sunshine Haven for all your kindness and compassion in her final days. A special thank you to Stephanie Solis Burciaga for your friendship, love, and hours spent making sure everything was planned just as she wanted and to relieve us of the pressures of planning a funeral during our bereavement. Finally, thank you to Brandon Knies and staff for your exceptional services from the first family meeting and through the services.
