Eduvina “Mine” Garza Montez was born on December 10th, 1942, in Raymondville, TX. She went to her eternal rest in the arms of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, the 17th of December 2023, at the age of 81. She was a wonderful sister, aunt, and wife. Her kindness to her family, involvement in her faith, and beautiful singing will be remembered by all who loved her.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Daniel Montez, her beloved baby sister Celia Garza Tamez (Alberto), her in-laws Jimmy (Elisa) Montez, Mary (Pete) Morales, Joe (Judy) Montez, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by both parents Pedro Garza and Magdalena Moya-Garza as well as her siblings Pablo Garza, Marin Garza, Roberto Garza, Juanita Alvarez, Hermelinda Garza Bristow, Ramiro Moya Garza, and Magdalena Garza Alonzo.
Her wonderful spirit and legacy will live on with the hundreds of people she helped in her ministries, doing missionary and prison work, and founding three churches (two in El Paso and one in Mexico). Her fervent faith in Jesus Christ was the impetus for all of her life’s work. She shared her faith with anyone who needed it and prioritized being an advocate for the voiceless where she had a special passion for and was an animal rescuer.
