Efrain B. Villarreal, 92, of Lyford, passed away on Sunday, December 5, 2021, in Harlingen, Texas. He was born in Harlingen, Texas to Manuel G. Villarreal and Josefa B. Villarreal on November 22, 1929.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Sofia V. Quilantan and Martha B. Villarreal. He is survived by his wife, Amalia C. Villarreal, daughter, Maria E. Villarreal, son, Humberto Villarreal, grandsons, Jeremy R. Villarreal (Austin Dupio) and Joshua R. Villarreal, and siblings, Magdalena V. Quilantan, Frances V. Benavides, Alejandro B. Villarreal, and Daniel B. Villarreal.
He went to school in Lyford. On June 23, 1957, he married the love of his life, Amalia Castillo Villarreal in Lyford. He worked for Mobil Oil Company for most of his life.
Viewing will be held today, Wednesday, December 8, 2021, from 9:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. with a rosary 7:00 P.M at Good Shepherd Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2021, at 2:00 P.M. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. A funeral procession will follow to his final place of rest in the Lyford Evergreen Cemetery.
Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Abel V. Quilantan, Adan V. Quilantan, Albert V. Quilantan, George Quilantan, Manuel Quilantan, and Jaime V. Benavides. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremy R. Villarreal and Joshua R. Villarreal.
