It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Eliberto Ramiro Cavazos, aged 79, who departed this world on the 20th of December 2023. He leaves behind a legacy of service, love, community and cherished memories that will forever remain etched in our hearts.

Ramiro Cavazos, born February 27, 1944, was a devoted husband, a loving son, father, brother, and a treasured friend to many. His life was a testament to his resilience, kindness, and unwavering support for those he held dear. He approached every challenge with courage and a smile, leaving an indelible impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

A man of many passions, Ramiro found joy in serving his community as a city commissioner and interim mayor of San Perlita, serving on the board of Willacy County Emergency Services District and as Vice Commander for the American Legion leading its Honor Guard. He also loved working in his yard and spending time with his precious family. His smile and easy-going nature created a welcoming atmosphere where no one was a stranger.

In his professional life, Ramiro served in both the US Air Force and the Texas Military Forces: Texas State Guard from which he was honorably discharged. He also worked in farming and ranching and lastly worked and retired from the City of Raymondville as a Warehouse Clerk.

Ramiro Cavazos is survived by his wife of 55 years, Enedelia “Nene” Cavazos, 5 children, Eva (Marcus Sr.) Jeter, Eliberto “Eddie” (Annie) Cavazos, Elizabeth “Lizee” (Andrea Villarreal) Cavazos, Roxana (Danny Contreras) Cavazos, Eric Cavazos, 5 grandchildren, Adrian (Aubrey) Cavazos, Abriem “Mikey” (Ryan) Cavazos, Valerie Cavazos, Noah Contreras, and Elijah Contreras and 2 great grandchildren Abriem Michael Cavazos Jr. and Graham Oliver Cavazos, his sisters, Perla (Oscar +) Deluna, Omega (Carlos) Sepulveda, Melba Gloria Diaz, Ida Iris (Rene) De La Garza. Brothers, Alonzo (Rose) Cavazos, Daniel (Judy) Cavazos, Jose Alonzo (Janee) Cavazos. He was preceded in death by his fathers, Juan Ledesma and Alonzo Cavazos, mother, Evangelina Ledesma, his brothers, Rodolfo Ledezma, Juan “Meme” Ledesma, Arturo Cavazos and sisters, Evangelina Delia Nieto and Linda Sullivan.

A celebration of Ramiro Cavazos’ life will take place on Friday December 29, 2023, at 1:00 pm at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to join in remembrance, sharing stories, and finding solace in each other's company during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the American Legion Post 390 in memory of Ramiro Cavazos.

The loss of Ramiro Cavazos leaves a void that can never be filled, but his spirit and the love he shared will continue to inspire and guide us. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the eternal serenity he so deserves.
