It is with deep sorrow, we announce the death of Ester Sauceda Salinas, born on April 15, 1928, in Raymondville, Texas. Ester passed away on February 26, 2025, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Enemencio Sauceda and Juanita Castro Sauceda, and her beloved husband, Ramon Salinas, Sr.
Ester is survived by her four sons, Raul (Belia) Salinas Sr., Ramon (Mary) Salinas Jr., Rene Salinas Sr., and Roberto (Dena) Salinas Sr.
Her beautiful legacy of life will be carried on by her 12 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 15 great-great grandchildren. All her grandchildren would refer to her as Wela. She would always embed her faith in God and offered her wisdom to each one of her grandchildren. Ester loved her grandchildren with so much love and pride. She was an honest individual who always shared her opinions on any given situation to ensure her grandchildren’s success in life. After their visits, Wela would always say “Que Dios me los Bendiga”.
During an early age, Ester developed a passion for sewing. When she was a little girl, she developed the skill for sewing. Her problem-solving skills enabled her to be able to create patterns and sew outfits for her dolls. As time went by, Ester would sew different types of requests such as cheerleader uniforms, special occasions attires, and specific requests from family and friends. People would often reach out to her, because she had a special gift to recreate amazing clothing for her customers. Ester was a housewife who often spoiled her family by always making homemade tortillas and making their favorite dish of beans. When it was seasonal work, Ester and her comadres would work in the packing sheds along the railroad tracks. Anything which Ester would work on; she would always exhibit a great passion and love for any given task.
Ester was known for the love she had for music and dancing. Both Ramon and Ester would spend their weekends dancing and enjoying life to their fullest at Joe’s Bar B.Q. Dancehall.
Ester Sauceda Salinas was a devout member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Raymondville, Texas. Ester was an individual who had a lot of faith in her Lord and Savior and her Patron Saint Our Lady of Guadalupe. Ester and Ramon would attend the five o’clock mass every Saturday like clockwork. Being a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Ester a Guadalupana for many years. During her membership, Ester would help with fundraisers by donating and participating in their sponsored activities.
Ester Sauceda Salinas has left great and priceless memories which her family will keep very close to their hearts. She has also left wisdom, compassion, and empathy which will be exhibited by her entire family for years to come. Thank you Wela for showing us so much love for 96 years.
At this time, the entire Salinas’ family would like to thank Lina Oviedo for her loving care, time, and attention given to our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2025, from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. with a holy rosary at 7 p.m. at Good Shepherd Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Lyford, Texas. All services will conclude at that time.
