Faustino Gonzalez Jr., 61, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at HCA Houston Health Care, Northwest Houston, TX on Monday, October 4, 2021. He was born to Faustino and Guadalupe Gonzalez on July 5, 1960 in Raymondville, TX.
Faustino Gonzalez Jr. retired from Texas Department of Criminal Justice Institutional Division, in which he was a Correctional Officer III, and a sergeant. He retired in April 2009, after being employed at several different units in Edingburg, TX and in Richmond, TX.
He was a Lyford High School Graduate, class of 1979, immediately after high school he joined the Marine Corps, where he proudly served our country for several years.
Faustino was currently employed by South West Keys, Houston, TX. He was a friendly person, that encountered many individuals that later on became friends, either co-workers, or people from outside of his work.
He was a son, brother, father, and a grandfather to his grandchildren that meant the world to him. He enjoyed BBQ's, listening to music, and being accompanied by his friends and family. His plans were to completely retire and re-locate to the Rio Grande Valley. He always wanted to spend more time at the family ranch surrounded by his loved ones.
He is survived by his father, Faustino Gonzalez, his mother, Guadalupe Gonzalez, his sons, Christopher Daniel Gonzalez (Mary Jane Becerra) and Marcus Isaac Gonzalez, his daughters, Marla Kristine Cole (Cary Cole) and Margo Lorraine Gonzalez, his brother, Armando Gonzalez (Marisa Sanchez), his sisters, Rosa Maria Saldivar (Manuel Saldivar Sr.), Maria Luisa Gonzalez (Roy Garza Jr.), and Lupita Salazar (Jesus Salazar), his grandchildren, Cameron and Mason Cole, Amariah, Analynn, Ariel, Robert Jr., Anthony Aleman, and Marcus Gonzales Jr, and numerous of his nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Nilda Neri Gonzalez, brothers, George "Koke" Gonzalez and Albert "Beto" Gonzalez.
Viewing will be held on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 from 11:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. with a rosary at 7:00 P.M at Good Shepherd Funeral Home. A church mass will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 9:00 A.M at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church. A funeral procession will follow to his final rest at the Lyford Guadalupe Cemetery.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Cary Cole, Cameron Cole, Roy Garza Jr., Roberto Gonzalez, Joaquin Gonzalez and Armando Gonzalez. Honorary pallbearer will be Marcus Gonzalez.
