Felipe Cruz, 79, entered into eternal rest on Monday, August 7, 2023, in Edinburg, TX. He was born on August 31, 1943, to Solome Cruz and Emilia Zarate.
He is survived by his only son Miguel Angel (Nora) Cruz Sr., his grandchildren Monica Lee (Ruben) Cruz-Garza, Miguel Angel (Valerie) Cruz Jr., Noel (Nayeli) Cruz, his great-grandchildren, Allie McKae Cruz, Celestina Jyodi Cruz, Nitzel Cruz, Miguel Angel Garza, and JaeAnna Jordan Cruz.
He is preceded in death by his parents Solome Cruz and Emilia Zarate, his brothers, Emilio Cruz and Doroteo Cruz, his sisters, Bernada Rivera, and Gregoria Medina, and his great-grandchild, Miguel Angel Cruz III.
Visitation was held on Thursday, August 10, from 9 A.M. until 9 P.M. with a rosary at 7 P.M. at Good Shepherd Funeral Home. A funeral service was held on Friday, August 11, 2023, at 10 A.M. at Good Shepherd Funeral Home. Interment followed to his final place of rest at the Rio Grande State Veterans Cemetery in Mission, TX where he received a full military service.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Jesus Cruz, Noel Cruz, Jaime Capetillo, Luis Cruz, Omar Capetillo, and Miguel Angel Cruz Sr.
“Thank you for your sacrifice, you gave your strength, your youth, and time. Though you didn’t give your life, you were a willing soul. You answered the call to defend our nation’s freedom and now you answered the call from the Lord for your freedom in Heaven. We will continue to honor you and all your sacrifices until we are reunited again.”
