With sorrow and bittersweet gratitude, The Simmons family announces the passing of Gary Simmons, a Son, Husband, Father, and Grandfather.
Gary Simmons, born in Fort Worth, Texas in 1950 passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2023, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife, Sybil Simmons, son, Matthew, daughter, Karri, and grandchildren, Nathan, Harley, Azaleah, and Mia, in addition to other assorted family and many caring friends.
Gary started a career as a heavy wall welder, but he very quickly grew a passion for the water and he felt the call of the ocean. This call would take him to Port to help his parents. As the ocean’s call got louder, he found love living as a shrimper, which led to a business that we all know now as Harbor Bait and Tackle.
Gary had a love for motorcycles, the open road, and NASCAR. If he wasn't on the water or riding his bike, he would be on his back deck watching NASCAR & his grandkids in the pool.
His family hopes he is riding his dream Harley through the heavenly golden gates and playing on the blissful clouds with our loved ones who have passed before. Gary, everyone you left in this world is saddened that you left so suddenly, but we are happy that you are home-free and painless. We will always love and miss you until we can meet again.
As per Gary’s wishes, his family will be scattering his ashes at sea at a later date.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the caring hands of Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 1157 W. Hidalgo Ave., Raymondville, TX 78580.
