Geronimo Reta, 93, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, March 8, 2026, in Harlingen, TX. He was born on September 30, 1932, in San Luis Potosi, Mx., to Mateo Reta and Inez Gonzalez.
He was a devoted reader of the Bible who found peace in his faith. He loved spending time in his garden and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. A true sports fan, he enjoyed watching baseball and was a loyal Detroit Tigers supporter. He also had a passion for boxing. Above all, he will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and the quiet way he cared for those around him.
He is survived by his sons, Geronimo Reta Jr., (Sonia), Rene Reta (Delia), Ramiro Reta, and Ruben Reta, his daughter Rosa Linda Trevino (J. Eddy Trevino), 22 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Francisca Sanchez Garcia Reta, by his parents, Mateo and Inez Reta, his son, Ricardo Reta, and his daughters, Olga Cerda and Elvia Cordero.
Viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Good Shepherd Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Good Shepherd Funeral Home. Interment will follow to his final place of rest at the Raymondville Memorial Park Cemetery.
