Guadalupe D. Espinoza Sr. passed on to his eternal life peacefully in his house on November 27, 2022.
He was born on April 22, 1921, in Cadereyta, Mexico to Maximilliano Espinoza and Carmen Duran.
He lived most of his life in Raymondville, married to his wife Trinidad for 68 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife Trinidad V. Espinoza; brothers, Felix and Everardo Longoria; sisters Luz Garcia and Carmela Rodriguez.
Guadalupe had countless strengths and used those strengths as a proud veteran to serve his country as a Corporal in the Army Air Corp during World War II. The strengths of a businessman, starting Espinoza Bakery, as a school bus driver for Raymondville ISD, a rancher, and managed the Valley All-Star Semi-Professional baseball team. He was a life parishioner of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church where he was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 9283.
He is survived by his son, Guadalupe Espinoza Jr. (Jesusa ”Loli”) and daughters Marialinda Aguilar (Carlos) and Rosalinda Gonzales (Gilbert); grandchildren Enrique and Rebekah Espinoza, Dario Aguilar, Jay Cavazos, Elke Coronado, Ember Sosa; Nicolas Gonzales and Christopher Gonzales; and 19 great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank Guadalupe’s friends and nieces and nephews for their prayers and love and express their appreciation to the Veterans Administration nursing staff while under their care. In addition, the compassionate care and attention provided by Maria Sanchez, Erika Aranda, and Clare Stout.
Visitation will begin on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, from 9:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. with a holy rosary at 7:00 P.M. at Good Shepherd Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, with interment to follow at Raymondville Memorial Park Cemetery.
Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Fred Tijerina, Rodney Rivera, Felix Coronado, Mike Sosa, Rudy Ambriz, and grandsons, Enrique Espinoza, Jay Cavazos, and Dario Aguilar.
