Irene G. Silva

Irene G. Silva, 85, of Lasara, TX, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2025, at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, TX. She was born on February 6, 1940, in Sarita, TX, to the late Emiterio and Maria Garcia.

She was married to the late Jose T. Silva Jr. and worked for Lasara I.S.D. as a Food and Nutritional Supervisor for 33 years.

Irene enjoyed gardening, collecting dolls, cooking, going to garage sales, and spending time with her pets—Coco, Girl, Kayla, and Mama Kitty.

She is survived by her children: Jose G. Silva III (Delfa), Ruben David Silva (Amy), Nora Silva, and Jack D. Silva (Abelina); her siblings: Enriqueta Garcia Villarreal, Elsa Garcia DeLeon, and Raul Garcia; grandchildren: Deborah (Jorge), Michael (Stephanie), Lane, Luke, Felicity, Jack Jr., and Godrik; great-grandchildren: Maya, Benny Joe, and Jorge Jr.  and numerous nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emiterio and Maria Garcia, her husband, Jose T. Silva Jr. and siblings: Ruven Garcia, Carolina Garcia Tijerina, Conrado Garcia, Enoema Garcia Cortinas, and Rafaela Garcia Lerma.

A memorial service was held on Friday, May 2, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd Funeral Home.  All services will conclude afterward.
