Jose G. Contreras

Jose G. Contreras, 82, of Raymondville, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 7, 2025, with his family by his side. Born on April 4, 1943, Jose grew up in Mexico, to Maria de Jesus Gonzales and Francisco Contreras.

He is survived by his sons, Frank (Laura) Contreras and Ricky Contreras, his daughter, Maria Isabel (Joel) Soto, his sister, Elvira Contreras vda de Barrios, 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and his partner, Alicia Galvan and her children, Rodolfo Velez and Priscilla (Dominic) Cavazos Dinsmore who Jose loved dearly.  

Jose is preceded in death by his father, Francisco Contreras, his mother, Maria de Jesus Gonzales, his wife of 46 years, Paulita S. Contreras, his brother, Magdaleno Contreras, and his sister, Lucila Contreras de Guzman.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Frank Contreras, Ricky Contreras, Charly Vallez, Ricky Contreras Jr., Christian Contreras, Derek Contreras, Isaiah Contreras, and Joel Soto Jr.

Special Thanks to Dr. Sarhill and staff and Texas Oncology Harlingen, Bristol Hospice and a very special thanks to his niece, Cristina Saldivar for her support through his journey.  

Viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. and will resume on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. with a holy rosary at 7 p.m. at Good Shepherd Funeral Home.  Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow to his final place of rest at the Raymondville Memorial Park Cemetery.
