Jose Olivarez Jr. Obituary

Surrounded by his loved ones, Jose G. (Pito) Olivarez, Jr. 50, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen, Texas.

Pito was born in Harlingen, Texas to Jose G. Olivarez Sr., and Sylvia S. Olivarez on July 11, 1973. He was raised at La Rosita Ranch east of Lyford and attended the Lyford CISD. He was a 1990 Lyford High School graduate and was extremely proud to be a BULLDOG. He was a simple man who loved GOD and was content with hanging out with family and friends. Always willing to help out, he was dependable and could be counted on. He was an understanding, proud father to his son, Christopher (Thalia) and a caring, compassionate Grandpa to Bradly, Layla and Dylan. To his sister, Mandi, he was Peter Pan, a free-spirited mischievous young boy who could fly. He was a “Cool” always wearing his shades uncle to Diego and Danae. He’s brother-in-law, Dion was his best friend and Cornhole companion. He took great pleasure in playing cards and board games, listening to 70’s music, and enjoyed outdoor barbecues. Pito cherished his life and looked forward to each waking day. It was HIS life and he lived it to the fullest. Our dear, dear Pito will be greatly missed and never forgotten. Rest in peace my son, my love, my legend.

He is survived by his loving mother, Sylvia Olivarez, Lyford, Texas. His son, Christopher Bradly Olivarez (Thalia), Laredo, Texas. His sister, Amanda Olivarez Tijerina (Dion), Mission, Texas. His Grandchildren, Bradly Garrett Olivarez, Harlingen, Texas, Layla Elizabeth Olivarez, and Dylan James Olivarez, Laredo, Texas, his loving aunts and uncles, Elida Gonzalez (Jose Carmen +), Dolres Sandlin (Tommy +), Betty Silva (Fred +), Pete Ramirez (Rosa +), Mary Olivarez Dieckhoff (James +), Raul Olivarez (Irene), Oscar Olivarez (Michell), and Homer Olivarez. His cousins/primos that he looked forward to seeing at every family gathering: Gloria, Olga, Leo, Carmen, Will, Sandi, John Joe, Freddy, Melissa, Javier, Norma, Nora, Nelda, Becky, Rammy, John, Marco, Julie, Tony, Tammy, Lisa, Savannah, Mimi, and his most generous, caring, and loving second cousin, Ruben Silva (Abby).

He is preceded in death by his loving father, Jose G. (Lupe) Olivarez, maternal grandparents, Juan and Carlota Silva, and paternal grandparents, Raul and Antonia Olivarez. His uncles, Juan Gary Silvas, Fred L. Silva, and Juan Silva, Jr. (Mary). His aunts, Amelia Silva Salinas (Guillermo), Dena Silva Colchado (Ramiro), and Rosa Maria Silva. His cousins, Noe (Gipper) Nieto and Lynda Salinas Garcia. His fiesty Grandma Mary Zuniga (Cuco) whom he cared for with loving patience and admiration.
