Josefina (Gaona) Aparicio born on February 15, 1934, was called to her heavenly home surrounded by her loving family on December 1, 2024, at the blessed age of 90.
Josefina is reunited with her husband of sixty-six years, Manuel Aparicio, her parents Elias and Tirsa Gaona, and her siblings: Nicolas, Elias Jr, Heriberto, Tomas, and Belen.
Left to cherish her memory are: her twelve children Joe Aparicio (Connie), Richard Aparicio (Maria Estela), Rudy Aparicio (Rose Orozco), Dora Locke (Jim), Ramiro Aparicio (Diana), Susan Guerra (Jay Ocañas), Luis Aparicio (Diana), Olga Aparicio, Delma Mireles (Avelardo), Danny Aparicio, Sandra Treto (Frank), and Melissa Treviño (Miguel), twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren, brother Pedro Gaona and sister Francisca Lopez, numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends.
A devoted and faithful member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Josefina was a Guadalupana for many years and later in life was a member of the Busy Bees. Josefina set the standard for her children to emulate her dedication to serve in the community. She enjoyed all the fundraising activities including making & selling tamales, selling raffle tickets, quilting, and participating in the yearly Jamaica/Fall festivals.
Josefina was a sports fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs, and the New York Yankees. She had a front row seat to these events from her living room chair. She enjoyed playing chalupa (loteria) with her family and friends, beating her family at kings corners card game and dominoes, scratching off lottery tickets, and completing crossword puzzles and word search. She was an avid reader and looked forward to every new book released by her favorite author V C Andrews.
Josefina was dedicated to the care of raising her children and laid the foundation upon which this family was built. Her family will be eternally grateful to her.
The family wishes to recognize the loving care provided by her caregivers: Delia Aparicio, Rosario Rodriguez, and Rose Orozco. A most sincere appreciation is expressed to Art Contreras, LVN and all the staff at Amedisys Hospice for their most excellent care of our beloved Mom in her final days; Monica Saenz-Castillo, PA and the staff at Valley Family Clinic; Dr. Paul Bossous and his staff at 360 Kidney Care; and Fr.
