Juan Manuel “Johnny” Rios, 74, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, in Harlingen, Texas. He was born on May 29, 1950, in Raymondville, to Manuel and Eva C. Rios.
Johnny graduated from Raymondville High School in 1968. He attended Pan American University and received his Bachelor of Arts in Education. He started his teaching career at Santa Rosa ISD and retired after 31 years in education. Upon retirement he returned to his roots, moving back to Lasara. At that time, he joined his nephew Lonnie in the farming and ranching fields. He enjoyed his days working on the tractor and helped with feeding cattle in the evenings. He lived a very enjoyable retirement.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria Bueno Rios, his brother, Robert (Cindy) Rios, and his sister, Becky Rios Robles.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Eva C. Rios, and his mother-in-law, Guadalupe Bueno.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Avan Orlando Guerra, Arturo Flores Jr., Michael Bueno, Jonathan Maldonado, Filiberto Lucero Jr., and Rudy Cantu.
Viewing will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2024, from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a holy rosary at 7 p.m. at Good Shepherd Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be held on Monday, October 7, 2024, at 10 a.m. at St. Patricks’ Catholic Church in Lasara, TX. Interment followed to his final place of rest at the Lasara Cemetery.
