Juanita Manrriquez Obituary

Juanita Manrriquez, 84, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, in Harlingen, Tx. She was born on September 18, 1938, in Brownsville, Texas to Gerardo Mascorro and Guadalupe Sanchez.

She was the greatest mom we could have, but when it came to her cooking, tamales were her specialty. So many people would come from all over to buy dozens, and she always had them ready. She loved to eat nopalitos and can them, plus she made and canned some mean (ghost pepper) hot sauce. Juanita had a green thumb when it came to gardening, she grew beautiful flowers just as beautiful as she was. She loved all three dogs dearly: Rusty, Buelah, and Chico. They are now looking for good homes to go to. The matriarch of the Manrriquez family taught us that love of family is supremely important, that we should always be nice and kind, even to people who might not seem to return the same necessities, and that god has a plan for all of us. Juanita had a great and caring heart that tirelessly sought to help and care for those less fortunate, including gods little animals.

She is survived by her sons, Juan Miguel (Elidia), Jorge Alberto (Eleshia), and Antonio Jr. (San Juanita), daughter, Petra (Benito), sister, Guadalupe Gonzalez, grandchildren, Christina, Meagan, Matthew, Christian, Omar, Anthony, Selina, Sasha, Ilaije, and 17 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Antonio, parents, sisters, Paula, Josefa, and Anita, and brother Mariano.

Visitation was held on Sunday, November 20, 2022, from 2:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at Good Shepherd Funeral Home. A funeral mass was held on Monday, November 21, 2022, at 2:00 P.M. at Good Shepherd Funeral Home with interment following at Lyford Evergreen Cemetery.
