Kim Brinkley Rains better known as Momma Kim, 68, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on December 10, 2025. Born on January 14, 1957, in Raymondville, Texas, to LeAnn Capps and John Wesley Bullard, Kim lived a life marked by hard work, compassion, and devotion to family.
A trailblazer in real estate in the Rio Grande Valley, Kim built a highly respected and successful career through determination, integrity, and vision. At a time when the industry was not always welcoming, she forged her own path, setting standards of excellence and professionalism that others followed. Kim was known for her deep knowledge of the market, tireless work ethic, and unwavering advocacy for her clients. She approached every transaction not just as a business deal, but as an opportunity to help individuals and families secure stability, opportunity, and a place to call home. Her leadership, mentorship, and example helped open doors for others in the field and left a lasting mark on the real estate community.
More than her career, Kim was known for her remarkable generosity. She had an extraordinary gift for showing up when people needed her—whether through a home-cooked meal, financial guidance, or simply a listening ear. Kim never hesitated to lend a hand, offer wisdom, or open her heart. Her kindness extended far beyond her family and friends, touching countless lives throughout the community, often quietly and without expectation of recognition.
Kim is survived by her beloved children, Thomas Eric Rodriguez, Daniel Trey Rodriguez, and Jenna Leigh Rodriguez, who were her greatest pride. She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren—Mikaela Denise Rodriguez, Karla Michelle Rodriguez, Skylar Gabriel Rodriguez, and Emma Danielle Rodriguez—each of whom filled her life with joy.
She is preceded in death by her mother, LeAnn Capps; her grandmother, Alma Cobb; and her brothers, Gene Brinkley and Patrick Brinkley.
Kim will be remembered for her warm heart, fearless leadership, and unwavering strength. Her legacy lives on in her family, her friends, and the many lives she touched through her generosity and groundbreaking work in real estate.
