Lillian Garcia Obituary

Lillian, 76, entered eternal rest on February 18, 2024, born on September 18, 1947, in Harlingen, Texas to Arturo A. & Lillian G. Morales.  She graduated from Harlingen High School and was proud to be a cardinal.

Her career as a repair dispatcher and sales executive spanned for 32 years with South Western Bell (AT&T) before retiring in 1998.  This was Lillian’s first job and last, hired on the spot over the phone because of her beautiful professional voice.  She was so dedicated to the community of Santa Monica and Sebastian where she was a member of the Empowerment Zone.  Lillian helped establish the Sebastian and Santa Monica Fire Departments where she worked hard to write grants to continue funding for the Fire Departments with needed equipment.

Lillian worked hard side by side with the love of her life Ernesto G. Garcia on the family farm for years, where they raised their three children, Ernesto Garcia Jr., Edna M. Sanchez, and Nannette L. Garcia and taught them the value of family and work ethics.

Her inspiration was watching everyone happy and full after cooking a large meal for her entire family during holidays and special occasions.  Her tamales and menudo were well known through many and has passed the family recipes onto her children and grandchildren.

Upon her retirement Lillian was able to raise her two grandchildren who lived in Santa Monica and spend as much time with her granddaughter who lives in Maine as much as she could.  She followed them all over the valley watching them play sports making sure she did not miss a single game.  She was so proud of her beautiful Paige Elizabeth who could ride a horse just as good as her dad (Ernesto).

She was married to Ernesto G. Garcia for 54 years until she became a widow on October 18, 2021.  Lillian is now back in the arms of her beloved Ernesto G. Garcia.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Ernesto G. Garcia, her parents, Arturo Adan Morales and Lillain G. Morales (Dickinson), her brother, George E. Morales, her brother n laws, Bob Polansky and Sam Garcia.

She is survived by her son, Ernesto Garica Jr. (Samantha), her daughters, Edna M. Sanchez (Carlos), and Nannette L. Garcia (Eutimio Jr. Cantu), her brother, Arthur David Morales (Karen), her sisters, Alice G. Polansky, Candy Matthews, Linda A. Garcia, and Norma D. Vega, and her grandchildren, Paige E. Garcia, Joseph C. Hernandez, and Audrey L. Hernandez.

A viewing will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024, from 9 A.M. until 5 P.M. with a Memorial Service at 2 P.M. at Good Shepherd Funeral Home. All services will conclude at that time.
