Luciana Perez Obituary

Luciana “Lucie” Cruz – Perez, 66, of Buda – Raymondville Texas, entered peacefully into eternal life on December 2, 2022.

Lucie was born on September 15, 1956, to Eusebio Labra Torres and Bartola Cruz – Torres in Tampacan, San Luis Potosi Mexico.  Hailing from a migrant farm working family, Lucie graduated from Raymondville High School in 1976 and went on to study and earn a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communications at St. Edwards University.

While studying to earn her Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication, she began her career working for St. Edward’s University in the Office of University Advancement where she served for 39 years.   Revered as a spiritual guide to many lives, Lucie had a major impact on her colleagues and students throughout her tenure there that she was recently recognized with ‘The Luciana “Lucie” T. Perez ’92 CAMP Endowed Scholarship at St. Edward’s University.  

In 1975, Lucie met Gabriel Perez in Raymondville, Texas and their story together began.  Lucie and Gabriel went on to have one child, Kriselda Torres – Perez.

Lucie is preceded in death by daughter - Kriselda Gabriela Torres – Perez, father - Eusebio L.

She is survived by Gabriel Baudelio Perez (husband), Bartola Cruz – Torres (mother), Armando (Norma) Torres (brother), Eleanor (Emilio) Torres – Camarillo (sister), Johnathan (Alexus) Camarillo (nephew), Joseph G. Camarillo (nephew), Eliani Luzette Camarillo (niece), Naaman C. Torres (nephew), Carina A. Torres (niece), mother-in-law Viola Emma Perez, sister-in-law Cecilia (Chris) Perez – Galvan, brother-in-law Damian Perez, Hector (Jessica) Hernandez (nephew), Marco Hernandez (nephew), Lynette (Cris) Hernandez – Ramirez (niece), Vanessa (Chris) Hernandez – Salazar(niece), and five grand nephews and two grand nieces.

Visitation will be held at Good Shepherd Funeral Home located at 1157 W Hidalgo Ave, Raymondville, TX on Monday, December 12, 2022, from 9:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. with a rosary at 7:00 P.M. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at 10:00 A.M. at Raymondville Memorial Park Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to The Luciana “Lucie” T. Perez ’92 CAMP Endowed Scholarship at St. Edward’s University.

Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Armando Torres, Damian Perez, Johnathan Camarillo, Joseph Camarillo, Hector Hernandez, and Marco Hernandez.

Special thanks to the St. Edward’s University family, Joe DeMedeiros, Cheri Sullivan, the caring staff at Ascension Seton Hays Hospital, Gloria Ruiz, Susana Mendez – Jordan, Patty Cannon, Lee, and Thelma Polanco, Susanne Cantu, Ana Vielma, Cynthia Zubias, and Liza Monjarrez, Gaby Ferreiro-Chavez, Mauro Renteria.
