Lyford –
Luis Medina Jr., 73, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at DHR Health in Edinburg, TX. He was born on May 7, 1948, in Lyford, Texas to Angela Medrano Gamez and Luis Medina Sr.
He is preceded in death by his father, Luis Medina Sr. He is survived by his loving wife, Ana M. Gonzalez Medina, his mother, Angela Medrano Gamez, sons, Samuel Delgado, Jesse L. Medina Sr., Leroy Patino, Guadalupe (Samantha) Medina, Luis Medina III, brothers, Miguel (Estela) Medina Sr., Lucas (Imelda) Gamez Jr., sisters, Lupita (Hector) Martinez, Anita Gamez, grandchildren, Jesse L. Medina Jr., Luis M. Medina, Melina V. Caceres, Diego A. Medina, Devin A. Medina, Sofia A. Medina, Audrey A. Patino, great grandchildren, Xavier L. Medina.
He was a student at Lyford Consolidated School, he served in the Vietnam war from 1968-1969, also served in the national guard. After the national guard, he drove metro buses in Houston, TX., became a bus driver for Lyford CISD, and became a truck driver transporting fuel. One of his achievements was getting an aviation mechanic degree from TSTC.
He loved eating all kinds of food, horses, fishing, dancing, helping others in any way he could, loved watching boxing, watching his favorite western TV shows, supporting his grandchildren in sports, loved mechanics, riding his motorcycle, and he very much-loved airplanes. Playing his guitar and singing was also what he loved to do.
Viewing will be held on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, from 9:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. with a rosary at 7:00 P.M. at Good Shepherd Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2021, at 10:00 A.M. at Prince of Peace in Lyford, TX. A funeral procession will follow to his final place of rest in the Combes cemetery.
Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Samuel Delgado, Jesse L. Medina Sr., Leroy Patino, Guadalupe Medina, Jonny Rojas, and Miguel Medina Jr.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Luis Medina III, Diego A. Medina, and Devin A. Medina.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the caring hands of Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 1157 W. Hidalgo Ave., Raymondville, TX 78580.
