Maria Candelaria Cavazos, 88, entered into eternal rest on Friday, January 21, 2022 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas. She was born on February 2, 1933 in San Luis Potsi, Mexico to Santiago Nieto and Carmen Reyes.
Cande Cavazos was a servant of God the Father, loving wife and a mother to 9 children. She enjoyed serving her family and community, organized and assisted the Guadalupanas for 20 plus years, she was involved and recognized by the LRGVDC- Foster Grandparent Program for 17 years. Cande served different ministries both in and out of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. She leaves behind many beautiful memories and examples for her family and those who knew her.
She is survived by her sons, Ruben Noe Cavazos of Houston, Ramiro Cavazos of Lyford, Roberto (Alma) Cavazos of Lyford, and Rickie Cavazos of Houston, daughters, Diana (Rudy) Chavez of Lyford, Dora (Richard) Casto of Hondo, and Gina (Ruben) Flores of Spring, brothers, Fausto, Cosme, and Jaime, sisters, Guillermina, Martha, Esther, Celia, and Gloria, 26 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Ruben G. Cavazos, sons, Rolando Cavazos and Reynaldo Cavazos and 11 siblings.
Viewing was held on Monday, January 24, 2022 from 1:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. and resumed on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 from 9:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. with a rosary at 7:00 P.M. at Good Shepherd Funeral Home. A funeral mass was held today, Wednesday, Janurary 26, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. A funeral procession followed to her final place of rest at the Evergreen Cemetery in Lyford.
Honored to serve as pallbearers were Ruby Bermea, Michele Luna, Lisa Garza, Abigail Cavazos, Jennifer Price, and Roberta Cavazos. Honorary Pallbearers were Crystal Henry, Annalisa Banuelos, Bebe Walder, and Amanda Garcia.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the caring hands of Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 1157 W. Hidalgo Ave., Raymondville, TX 78580.
