Maria (Juarez) Garcia

Maria Juarez Garcia, 88, of Lyford entered into eternal rest on Friday, March 3, 2023. She was born on February 8, 1935 in La Feria, TX to Gustavo Juarez and Lucia Elizondo Juarez.

She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Rosendo Garcia; daughters, Janie (Tommy) Longoria, Lolly (Gilbert) Tijerina, Lucy (Roger) Hinojosa, Estella (Julian) Guerra, Irma Jean (Michael) Duffey; grandchildren, T.C., Danny, Lisa, Erica, Jessica, Christina, Joey, Vanessa, Charlie, Nicolette; 13 great-grandchildren; and sister, Margaret (Mike) Fonseca.

Our mother was most loving and nurturing. A selfless soul who always put everyone else first. Her faith in God was unwavering. She “never needed anything because she had everything, her family!” Mary’s Lyford community knew her best for her homemade pies, quilting, and her involvement with the Busy Bees at Prince of Peace Catholic Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Gustavo and Lucia Juarez; great-grandson, Joe Eric Gutierrez; sisters, Isabel Castillo and Lupe Juarez.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 9, 2023, from 3:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. with the holy rosary to be prayed at 6:00 P.M. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, March 10, 2023, at 10:00 A.M. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with interment to follow at Lyford Guadalupe Cemetery.
