Maria Nieto Obituary

Lasara –

Maria Luisa Ochoa Nieto, 93, entered peacefully into eternal rest on December 3, 2021, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 28, 1928, in San Francisco de Asis, Inde, Durango, Mexico to Juan Ochoa and Maria Cisneros.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, Teodoro Del Angel Nieto. Maria Luisa was a devoted lifetime member of the Catholic Church.

Luisa, as many knew her, is remembered by her family and friends as being a kind, humble, reserved, dedicated, and resourceful individual. Luisa’s angelic voice and love of singing gained her popularity in her little hometown. Many times, Luisa was summoned to sing at church, a wedding, or even a funeral. In addition, Luisa also contributed her talent of serving as a catechist where she learned and became more profound in her Catholic faith. In her later years, Luisa enjoyed knitting and crocheting articulate works of art. Aside from being a skilled seamstress, she created and embroidered beautiful Mexican dresses which she sold for-profit and to help make ends meet. Luisa was also a self-taught cook and took pride in delicious baking bread and cakes. Most of all, she loved and dedicated her life to serving God first and diligently praying daily over her family and children, always instilling strong Christian values and work ethics.

She is survived by her eight children: Maria Del Rosario (Teodulo) Trujillo, Juan Francisco (Kathy) Nieto, Teodoro Jr. (Dominga) Nieto, Tito (Sulema) Nieto, Clara Nieto Delagarza, Leticia (Jose Francisco) Rincon, Marco Antonio “Tony” (Melissa) Nieto, Criselda (Juan) Espinoza, 27 grandchildren, and 31 great-grandchildren.
