Maximiano Loya Lopez Obituary

Maximiano Loya Lopez, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and respected member of his community, passed away on March 13, 2025, at the age of 76. He was born on June 9, 1948, in Raymondville, Texas, to the late Eusebio Lopez and Ester Lopez, whose love and values shaped Maximiano's life.

Maximiano graduated from high school in 1968 and soon enlisted in the United States Air Force. As an air traffic controller, he served proudly from 1968 until his honorable discharge in 1976, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. His service was marked by dedication, discipline, and an unwavering sense of duty to his country.

In 1970, Maximiano married the love of his life, Josefa Ramos Lopez. Together, they spent 54 years building a loving family. He was the proud father of five children: Max Reyes, Chris L. Tamez, Jo Ann Lopez Posas, Steven Lopez, and Max Lopez Jr. Throughout his life, Maximiano was committed to providing for and supporting his family. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish a successful trucking business, a testament to his hard work, determination, and resilience.

Maximiano's greatest joy came from his role as a grandfather to 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He took immense pride in watching them grow and thrive, offering wisdom, guidance, and unconditional love. He also shared a deep bond with his five siblings, whom he cherished throughout his life.

Maximiano will be remembered for his strong character, work ethic, and unwavering devotion to his family. His kind heart, wisdom, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Josie Lopez, his daughters, Chris L. (Rick) Tamez and JoAnn Lopez Posas, his sons, Max (Gina) Reyes, Steven Lopez, and Max (Jenna) Lopez, his brother, Eusebio (Bibi) Lopez, Jr., his sisters, Yolanda Lopez, Diana Castillo, and Betty Jean Lopez Rodriguez, his grandchildren, Sarah Justine Tamez, Amber Nicole Tamez, Carson Jordan Tamez, Joshua Caleb Tamez, Tristen Stephen Posas, Jacob Matthew Posas, Hunter Kyle Posas, Jaxon Maxwell Lopez, Graycen Baylea Lopez, Cullen David Lopez, Matthew Reyes, Devin Reyes, and Erik Reyes, and his great grandchildren, Kai Angel Coronado, Reid Reyes, Brooks Reyes, Cooper Reyes, and Laikyn Reyes.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Eusebio Lopez, Sr. and Esther Lopez and his brother, Hector Lopez, Sr.

Honored to service as pallbearers are Tristen S. Posas, Jacob M. Posas, Hunter K. Posas, Carson J. Tamez, Joshua C. Tamez, and Jaxon M. Lopez. Honorary pallbearers are Cullen D. Lopez and Kai A. Coronado.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 16, 2025, from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a holy rosary at 7 p.m. at Good Shepherd Funeral Home and will resume on Monday, March 17, 2025, from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. with a holy rosary at 7 p.m. at Good Shepherd Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow to his final place of rest at the Raymondville Memorial Park Cemetery where he will receive his full military honors by the American Legion Post 390.
