Maximina M. Lara, 86, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, in Harlingen, Tx. She was born on October 12, 1939, in Sebastian, Tx., to Cirilo Lara and Maria de Lourdes Martinez Lara.
She lovingly helped raise her nieces and nephews, caring for them as if they were her own. She had a deep love for music and found joy in singing alongside mariachis, filling every room with her warmth and spirit. In her quiet moments, she enjoyed reading and writing, passions that reflected her thoughtful and reflective nature. She never forgot a birthday, always making sure her family felt remembered and cherished. Her devotion to her loved ones was unwavering, especially in the care she gave her parents, whom she lovingly tended to until their passing.
She is survived by her sister, Francisca Lara Hernandez, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death her parents, Cirilo and Maria de Lourdes Lara, her brothers, Pedro Lara and Margarito Lara (Lydia Lara), and her sisters, Claudia Lara, and Guadalupe Chapa.
Viewing will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026, from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a holy rosary at 7 p.m. at Good Shepherd Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow to her final place of rest at the Sebastian Guadalupe Cemetery.
