Nicolas G. Rodriguez Jr. “Pacho”, 92, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 21, 2022, at Harlingen Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas. He was born October 18, 1929, in Armstrong, Texas to Nicolas F. Rodriguez Sr. and Romana Garcia Rodriguez.
Pacho was born and raised on the King Ranch. He worked at the King Ranch all his life. He managed La Corrida Outfit for over 34 years. According to a close relative, he rode more miles on a King Ranch horse than anyone alive today. He worked a total of 48 years at the King Ranch, Norias Division before his retirement. He was a true Kineno – a vaquero – known for his ability to lead with integrity and great skill. He will fondly be remembered as a man of faith, devoted to Christ and his family.
He is survived by his sons, Pastor Hector (Alma) Rodriguez, Danny (Melinda) Rodriguez, and Roger Rodriguez, daughter, Mary Ann Rodriguez, brother, Rosendo Rodriguez, sister, Viola De Luna, grandchildren, Eric (Maribel) Rodriguez, Tammy (Tom) Rodriguez, Daniel Rodriguez Jr., Stephen (Jennifer) Rodriguez, and Shannon Rodriguez, and 12 great grandchildren. Nephews, Jesus Serna, Erasmo Serna, and a very special niece, Yolanda Santos Serna. He is preceded in death by his parents, Nicolas Sr. and Romana Rodriguez, wife, Emma Reyes Rodriguez, daughter, Norma Linda Rodriguez, brothers, Pedro Rodriguez, Roberto Rodriguez, and Rueben Rodriguez, and sister, Ofelia Salazar.
Viewing was held on Monday, April 25, 2022, from 3:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. with a worship and prayer service officiated by his grandson, Pastor Eric Rodriguez, at 6:00 P.M. at Good Shepherd Funeral Home. A chapel service was officiated by his grandson, Pastor Eric Rodriguez, on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at 10:00 A.M. at Good Shepherd Funeral Home. A funeral procession followed to his final place of rest next to his wife, where his, grandson Pastor Stephen Rodriguez, officiated the graveside service at the Raymondville Memorial Park Cemetery.
Honored to serve as pallbearers were Danny Rodriguez, Daniel Rodriguez Jr., Zachary Rodriguez, Devin Rodriguez, Rodney Rivera, and Joey Mendoza. Honorary pallbearer was Stephen Rodriguez.
