Noe Loya Sr. Obituary

Noe T. Loya, 83, of Raymondville, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2025, with his family by his side. Born on August 18, 1941, Noe grew up in Willamar, Texas, surrounded by the love of his parents, five brothers, and his sister — who remained by his side during his final moments.

In 1964, Noe married Dora Gomez. Together, they settled in Raymondville, where they raised their four children: Sam, Sandra, Noe Jr., and Chris.

Though Noe did not pursue a formal education, he was a self-made man defined by determination and hard work. For over 44 years, he successfully ran his own business, earning the respect of his community as both a skilled welder and a dedicated farmer. Among his proudest accomplishments was helping to restore the historic, hand-operated Los Ebanos Ferry — a project close to his heart and a lasting contribution to Texas history.

From January 1997 to 2008, Noe served as a Willacy County Commissioner, working to improve the quality of life for county residents. Known for his strong will and tireless spirit, he approached public service with a deep sense of responsibility, always striving to expand opportunities and resources for his community.

Family was the foundation of Noe’s life. He cherished time spent with his large, close-knit family and treasured the friendships he built over the years — many of whom became like family to him.

He is survived by his children: Sam (Andrea) Loya, Sandra Loya, Noe Loya Jr., and Chris (Mario) Garcia; his sister, Linda Guzman; eight granddaughters: Daryl, Dori, Karisa, Nisa, Lea, Carolina, Elizabeth, and Cecilia; and six great-grandchildren: Kyle, Austin, Castin, Skylar, Celia, Eden, and Elias. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and his loyal dog, JP.

Noe was preceded in death by his wife, Dora Loya; his parents, Julia and Calistro Loya; his brothers: Lazaro, Calistro, Roberto, Fidel, and Guadalupe; and his nephew, Joey.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Balderas and the staff at the Heart Clinic, Dr. Bhatla and staff, Dr. Juan Maldonado and staff, and the compassionate caregivers at The Cano Home and Gentiva Hospice for their exceptional care during Noe’s final days.

Noe will be remembered for his strength, his pride in his work, and his deep love for his family and community. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched.
