Olga Salazar Obituary

Olga Salazar, aged 81, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025. Olga was born in 1944 in Raymondville, TX where she grew up.  She was the daughter of Gilberto and Eugenia Garza.

While working at The Southern drive-in she met Isauro Salazar, who came to see her because her sister told him about her in high school. They fell in love and were married in 1968.  They settled down to raise a family in Houston, TX in the early 70s. Olga was a loving mother to their two children Daniel and Dina. The family of four did everything together.  Olga was known for her love of family, faith in Jesus Christ, and steady strength throughout her life.

She spent years devoted to her husband and children and volunteering at St. Joseph Catholic Church as a Catechism aide, Eucharistic Minister, and office helper. She also became a Cursillista. She loved having family over for gatherings and playing chalupa (bingo!) She loved to sing.  She was a great storyteller and made us laugh with her witty remarks. She loved to talk on the phone with family.  Olga was loved beyond measure, a loving, faithful, and beautiful soul that will be deeply missed.

Olga is survived by her husband of 57 years, Isauro Salazar, her children, Daniel and Melisa Salazar, Dina and Marcel Astorga her grandchildren, Robert Astorga, Madison and Reese Salazar, her siblings, Balde Garza*, Israel Garza, Gilbert Garza, Oscar Garza, Enrique Garza*, John Garza, Raul Garza, Ricardo Garza, Evila Diaz*, Ofelia Cavazos, Gloria Cantu, Viola Gonzalez, Irma Maldonado, and Enedelia Garcia.  (*deceased).

She is preceded in death by her parents, Gilberto and Eugenia Garza.

May we all remember what joy Olga brought into our lives. The happy and memorable times we shared with her.  We find tremendous joy and blessings in knowing that she is resting in peace with the Lord, Jesus Christ.  She will be forever in our hearts.
