Petra Conde Hernandez

Petra Conde Hernandez, 87, has gone to rest with our Good Lord on September 24, 2021. After fighting a long hard battle against dementia, she passed peacefully in her home, with family by her side. 

Petra was born in Kingsville, TX on January 19, 1934, to Demetrio and Julia Navarro Conde. She lived in Raymondville, TX, and migrated to Mesquite, NM, for 26 years. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Petra was known for her delicious food. She took care of many kids in her home day care, in which most would call her grandma. She was a loving and caring person, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, always thinking of others first. “To know her was to love her.” She will be remembered by most, for her amazing breakfast tacos, and confetti eggs.

Petra leaves to cherish her loving memory her Lifelong Loving Husband of 65 years, Clemente Mendez Hernandez, daughter, Josefina (Alfredo) Garza III, sons, Clemente Hernandez Jr and Ruben (Lori Ann) Hernandez, grandchildren, Ruben (Elizabeth) Garcia JR, Ruby (Chuck) Silva, Racheal (Noe) Acevedo, Roxie (Steven) Santiago, Robin (Gilbert) Galvan, Alfredo Garza IV (JR), Aaron Garza, Roel Hernandez, and Jeanette Candace, and great Grandchildren, Dionne Lenee, Isaiah Ray, James Douglas, Paxton James, Jaelynn Renee, Ruben Agustin, Iesha Lee, Jeanelle Riley, Alaiza Rae, Hannah Nikole, Mason Anthony, Enik Jeremiah, Byrnadean Lynette, Kaylonnie Nikole, McKayla Renee, Eon Gavin, Melody Paris, Brantly Zane, and Vivianna Grace.

Those who precede her in death are her parents, Demetrio and Julia Conde, daughter, Gloria G. Hernandez, sister, Juana Chavarria, and brothers, Otilio Conde, Bernardo Conde, Pedro Conde, and Jesus Conde.

Viewing was held on Monday, September 27, 2021 from 2:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. and resumed on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 from 9:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. with a rosary at 7:00 P.M. at Good Shepherd Funeral Home. A chapel service was held this morning, Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. at Good Shepherd Funeral Home. A funeral procession followed to her final place of rest in the Raymondville Memorial Park Cemetery.

Honored to serve as pallbearers were Ramiro Conde, Pedro Conde, Ausencio Chavarria Jr, Ruben Garcia Jr, Roel Hernandez, and Aaron Garza.
