Rafael Rincones Sr., 87, of Lyford, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2025, with his family by his side. Born on January 7, 1938, Rafael grew up in Willacy County, to Tomas Rincones and Emilia R. Rincones.
Rafael Rincones, a proud military veteran, served honorably in the United States Army and the Army Reserves, where he earned recognition as a sharpshooter. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Rafael was married to his beautiful wife, Juanita Coronado Rincones, for 61 years – a testament to their enduring love and commitment. He cherished time spent with his family and found great joy in their company. Rafael dedicated much of his career to the agricultural industry and took great pride in maintaining his cherished ranch, El Maneado. His legacy of hard work, service, and love for family will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita C. Rincones, his sons, Rafael Rincones Jr. and Ricardo Rincones (Pilar), his daughters, Raquel Valdez (Steven) and Rebecca Rincones Thomas (Curtis +), his brother, Alberto Rincones (Petra +), his sisters, Dora Rincones, Herminia Infante (Francisco +), and Connie Fitch (William +), his grandchildren, Armando Rincones, Laura Marissa Montemayor, Irene Nicole Jones, Mauricio Rincones, Diego Rincones, Fernando Rincones, Melissa Ashley Valdez, and Leslie Ann Valdez, and by his great grandchildren, Belle Jones and Fidencio Hernandez.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Tomas Rincones Sr., and Emilia R. Rincones, his brothers, Rafael Rincones, Miguel Rincones (Alicia), Tomas Rincones Jr. (Manuela), Jose Rincones (Consuelo), and Guadalupe Rincones (Guadalupe), and by his sisters, Manuelita Rincones, Aurora Romo (Juan), and Gloria Urbina (Juan).
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Diego Rincones, Fernando Rincones, Armando Rincones, Marissa Montemayor, Melissa Valdez, and Rene Castillo. Honored to serve as an honorary pallbearer is Mauricio Rincones.
Viewing will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025, from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a holy rosary at 7 p.m. at Good Shepherd Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Lyford, TX. Interment will follow to his final place of rest at the Lyford Evergreen Cemetery, where he will receive his full Military Honors from the American Legion Post 390.
