Rafaela Lerma

Rafaela Garcia Lerma, 92, entered into eternal rest on Monday, June 19, 2023, surrounded by her loving family in Raymondville, TX. She was born on February 24, 1931, in Raymondville, Texas to Emiterio Garcia and Maria Castillo Garcia.

She is survived by her sons: Henry Lerma (Catarina), Elido Lerma, Jr. (Mary), Elias Lerma (Leticia), Hector Lerma (Connie), Ernest Lerma (Laura), her daughter:  Anna M. Gamez (Bernardo), her brother: Raul Garcia, and her sisters: Enriqueta Villareal, Elsa De Leon, and Irene Silva. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Henry Martin Lerma, Roland (Lisa), Elido III (Thelma), Israel (Carol), Ismael (Jason), Ivana, Elizabeth Sunshine Rodriguez (Adrian), Becky (Larry) Mendez, Emmy (Miguel) Gomez, Janelle, Jessica, Jaime, Melissa (Jerry) Bocanegra, Victoria (Stephen) Moore, and Adam. She is preceded in death by her late husband Elido Lerma Sr. Her parents Emiterio and Maria Garcia, her brothers: Conrado Garcia and Ruben Garcia, her sisters: Enoema Cortinas and Carolina Tijerina, and her granddaughter, Ruth Lerma.

A viewing was held on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, from 2 P.M. to 9 P.M. Viewing resumed Thursday, June 22, 2023, from 9 A.M. to 9 P.M. with a prayer service at 7 P.M. Funeral Mass was held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Friday, June 23, 2023, at 10 P.M. A funeral procession followed to her final place of rest at the Raymondville Memorial Park Cemetery.

Proud to serve as pallbearers were Adam Lerma, Roland Lerma, Henry Martin Lerma, Elido Lerma III, Israel Lerma, and Elias Lerma, and Honorary Pallbearers were Bernardo Gamez and Hector Lerma.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the caring hands of Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 1157 W. Hidalgo Ave., Raymondville, Texas 78580.
