Ramiro Cavazos Obituary

Ramiro “El Giant” Cavazos, 78, entered into eternal rest on June 12, 2026, in Harlingen, TX. He was born on June 20, 1947, in Raymondville TX., to Luis Balboa Cavazos and Guadalupe Rodriguez.

Ramiro, a proud Vietnam Veteran, served his country with honor and carried that same dedication and strength into every aspect of his life. He was devoted to his family 100%. He was a loyal Dallas Cowboys fan and loved watching his kids and grandchildren participate and enjoy it just as much. Ramiro leaves behind a legacy of love, service, strength, and devotion. Though his presence will be deeply missed, his stories, his laughter, and the love he shared will continue on.

He is survived by his sons, Ramiro Cavazos Jr., Marcos Allen Cavazos, and Michael Anthony Cavazos, his daughters, Priscilla Sue Cavazos, and Abigail “Abby” Cavazos, his brothers, Luis Cavazos Jr., and Ventura Cavazos, his sisters, Elvia (Servando) Garcia, and Gloria Cavazos, and his 20 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Maria Elena Cavazos, his brothers, Robert Cavazos, Hector Cavazos, Ramiro Cavazos, Victor Cavazos, and Adan Cavazos, his sisters, Rosalinda Najera, Irma Cavazos, and Odulia Cortinas and his brother-in-law, Leonel Cortinas.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Ramiro Cavazos Jr., Marcos Allen Cavazos, Michael Anthony Cavazos, D.J. Valdez, Rudy Garza, Gabriel Garza, Michael Aiden Cavazos, and Marcus Allen Cavazos.

Viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a holy rosary at 7 p.m. at Good Shepherd Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at 10 a.m. at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, where he will receive his full military honors. Interment will follow to his final place of rest at the Raymondville Memorial Park Cemetery.
