Randal “Randy” Jay Turner, 62, of Port Mansfield, Texas, passed away on September 26, 2024, at his home.
Randy was born on December 31, 1961, to Walter and Margaret Turner. He married Tonya Shaw on January 2, 2015, and they shared 9 years of marriage.
Randy graduated from Edwards County High School in 1980, and got a welding degree from Olney Central College. In 1989, he joined the U.S. Navy where he was a Fire Control Technician. He served on the USS Forrestal where he was deployed for 8 months and was active during Desert Storm. Randy was honorably discharged in 1996, and returned to West Salem and raised a family. Randy worked in Toyota in Princeton until retirement in 2021. He then moved to Port Mansfield, Texas, where he would spend his final years doing what he loved, fishing in paradise. He was also an avid hunter, enjoyed racing, and watching Green Bay Packers football. For several years he also helped coach baseball and softball.
Randy is survived by his wife, Tonya, Sister, Crystal (Ernie) Clodfelter of Berryville, IL., Sister-in-law, Beverly (Bob) Welch of O’Fallon, IL., sons, RJ Turner of West Salem, IL., and Dalton (Brittany) Turner of West Salem, IL., daughter, Santana Turner of St. Joseph, IL., four grandchildren, two stepsons, 3 step grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Margaret Turner as well as his brother, Denny Lenear.
Upon his request, his body will be cremated, and services are still pending.
