Richard Ray Call, 61, passed away on May 5, 2023, at CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas, following a 5-year-long battle with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. He was born in Raymondville, Texas, on December 9, 1961, to James and Janice Call.
Richard is survived by his wife, Lilly Call, and their son, Xavier Call. He is further survived by his father, James Richard Call, and his siblings and their spouses, including Jewel Lynn (Randall) Ross of Amarillo, Janice Kay (Rey) Tamez of Ingleside, James Randolph (the late Dora) Call of Hondo, and Roy Lucas (Linda) Call of Abilene, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Janice Marie Call.
After graduating from Raymondville High School in the early 80s, Richard discovered his passion for cars. He spent his life working as an automotive technician, earning multiple AC and electrical work certifications. He was a fan of auto racing and loved to drive fast himself. He also enjoyed watching football, fishing, camping, and spending time with his family. Richard is survived by his wife, Lilly Call, and their son, Xavier Call.
Richard will be remembered by his family and friends as a kind and honest man. They felt blessed to have him in their lives, and he will be dearly missed. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 19, 2023, from 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. at Good Shepherd Funeral Home. All services will conclude at that time.
