Yolanda Garza Obituary

Yolanda Guzman Garza, 75, passed away quietly, and without pain, on January 31, 2026. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and daughter who loved fiercely and lived her life on her own terms.

She was born on March 31, 1950, in Raymondville, Texas to Eliseo and Rosita Guzman Garza, who preceded her.

The third of five children, she was the rock of the family; always a shoulder for her siblings, Joe (Esmeralda), Gloria, Sylvia (who passed and is survived by her husband, Alfonso) and Frank (Antoinette).

To her only daughter, Yvette (David), and her only nephew, Sergio (Barbara), who she loved like a son, her grandnieces and nephew, she made life an adventure and strived to bring joy at any opportunity that she could. Whether it be a cross-country trip, a spontaneous decision to do something just for the fun of it, or simply renting a hotel room for the night just for the experience, Mom thought it was important to celebrate the moment.

Becoming a grandmother and experiencing watching Dallas Eli and Amelia Rose open up to the world was her greatest joy. They shared giggles, snacks, profound hugs and purest love. Her daughter had the greatest teacher in how to keep on keeping on and staying strong at even the most devastating of times. The running joke was that mom missed her calling to be a warden or drill sergeant with her no-nonsense approach to life, but her lessons taught us how to love fiercely and how important family is, whether it be biological or chosen. Mom cultivated lifelong friendships and cherished every relationship. If she was in your corner, she was there for life.

Her legacy of hard work, strong will and utter devotion to family and friends will live on in Dallas, Amelia, Mariah, Nathan, and Aly as they carry our family into the next generation. We would like to thank the staff at Windsor Raymondville for their loving care of Mom, Bristol Hospice for their efforts and attention, and all those who thought kindly of Mom and spent time with her over the years.

If you have them, hug your parents tight, and love them hard.

Viewing will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a Holy rosary at 6 p.m. at Good Shepherd Funeral Home. All services will conclude at this time.
